Switzerland-based Ghanaian James Ekyi has stated that his ex-wife left their house and divorced him because she didn’t want kids, but he did.
Speaking on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Mr Ekyi revealed that he had no idea about her wife not wanting kids until a family member asked about it. He indicated it was somewhat of a surprise because they had never discussed children.
According to Mr Ekyi, they eventually concluded and agreed on a divorce because he wanted children. Six kids later, Mr Ekyi understands his ex-wife’s sentiments on having kids.
“We were too young for that, so we didn’t discuss it. We visited my ex-wife’s mother one day, and she brought it up, but my ex-wife said she didn’t want kids because of how kids suffer after birth. She wasn’t ready for that responsibility. Our marriage turned upside down after that,” he said on Daily Hustle Worldwide.
Mr Ekyi, however, indicated that he later came to understand his ex-wife because “there are several kids on the streets with no place to go. I was against it then, but I agree with her now. If you can’t be responsible for the kids, don’t give birth.”
