UK-based Ghanaian musician Kofi Nyarko has stated that the electronic levy policy introduced by the current government is somewhat dumb and added that there are better ways to make money from the government.

In an interview on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Kofi Nyarko mentioned some relatively clever policies that the UK government imposes on its citizen to check them.

Speaking on such policies, Kofi Nyarko mentioned “congestion charges. You’ll be fined if you pass through a congested area at a particular time to reduce traffic. The new UK prime minister has also implemented a new policy.”

“If you miss a hospital appointment, you’ll pay £10 because they had a backlog of patients to meet, but they were missing the appointments. So they will attend the appointment to avoid paying the fee,” he revealed.

Because of these systems, the gospel minister concluded that e-levy is not the best way to get money from the people. “You can’t tell me you’re charging me for transferring money from one bank to the other. Are you dumb? Is that the only way to get money from the people? No,” he added.

According to him, the UK government does not charge citizens for such transactions. Kofi Nyarko works in the transport sector and spoke about the financial value the train system will give to Ghana if it is established.
