Nana Kwasi Sarfo, a Ghanaian immigration lawyer based in Toronto, has advised prospective migrants to carefully prepare before relocating abroad, especially to Canada.
According to him, moving to Canada is not a shortcut to success. He stressed that anyone planning to relocate must first prove they can survive in the system, both financially and mentally.
“Life in Canada is not easy,” he noted. “You need money, a clear plan, and the right mindset before making the move.”
He highlighted that many young migrants struggle upon arrival due to lack of work experience and proper preparation. With intense competition for limited job opportunities, new immigrants often find it difficult to secure stable employment.
Nana Sarfo warned against rushing abroad without a solid strategy, emphasizing that seeking asylum is not a reliable solution and should never be seen as an easy escape route.
He also pointed out that migrants without strong support systems can become vulnerable, especially when faced with financial pressure and high expectations from family back home.
“Some people spend years abroad without meaningful progress,” he explained. “Migration without planning can lead to frustration and wasted time.”
The lawyer emphasized the importance of education, professional skills, and strategic planning, noting that these factors significantly improve one’s chances of success in Canada.
He further advised that individuals who find it difficult to survive abroad should not hesitate to return home and rebuild their lives.
“Sometimes, going back home to start afresh is the best decision,” he said.
In conclusion, Nana Kwasi Sarfo urged young people to approach migration with preparation, financial stability, and realistic expectations, warning that without these, life abroad can quickly become a struggle.
