Celestina Mercedes is a Ghanaian based in the United Kingdom who recently shared her views on love, privacy, and friendship during an interview on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show with DJ Nyaami.
During the discussion, Celestina emphasized the importance of keeping relationships private, warning that not everything belongs on social media. According to her, constantly posting and flaunting a relationship online can sometimes do more harm than good. She believes that when too much is shared publicly, it exposes the relationship to unnecessary attention, jealousy, and interference.
She explained that social media has made it easier for people to intrude into relationships. A single post can allow someone to track down a partner’s contact details or begin unwanted communication. In her view, oversharing creates opportunities for others to interfere.
Celestina stated that not every relationship deserves public attention. She believes privacy offers protection, especially when challenges arise. When relationships are handled quietly, fewer people become involved, and if things do not work out, it remains personal rather than public drama.
She also opened up about a painful personal experience involving a close friend. According to her, she once trusted a friend with private details about her relationship, only for that same friend to use the information against her. Within six months, the friendship collapsed because of the very secrets she had shared.
From that experience, she learned that not everyone who calls themselves a friend can keep confidential matters private. She stressed that if someone cannot keep their own secrets, they should not expect others to protect them either. Trust, she noted, must be earned and handled carefully.
Celestina further explained that love requires boundaries, not noise. She believes relationships are not “group property” and do not need public validation. In her words, privacy is power. She added that some relationships are not meant to be explained to the world, and sometimes silence protects love better than constant updates.
She concluded by saying that if she puts effort into a relationship and it does not work, she simply lets go without drama. For her, protecting one’s love life from unnecessary exposure is essential.
Through her interview, Celestina Mercedes highlighted the risks of oversharing in the digital age and encouraged couples to guard their relationships carefully or risk losing Them.
