Adubofour is a Ghanaian entrepreneur based in Ghana who recently appeared on SVTV Africa’s Business Link show with DJ Nyami. In the interview, he shared powerful lessons on discipline, business growth, and why wealth is built through strategy and consistency—not luck or shortcuts.

According to Adubofour, last year he earned an average of GHS 100,000 every month, a result of years of focus, reinvestment, and sacrifice. This year, he says his new target is GHS 300,000 monthly, driven by expansion, smarter marketing, and innovation—not gambling, not miracles, and not travel abroad.

“Hard work, discipline, and correct information build wealth—not luck,” he emphasized.

He explained that many people wrongly believe wealthy individuals succeed through sikaduro or luck, a mindset he himself grew up with. Over time, he realized that money responds to systems, planning, and execution, not superstition.

Growing up, Adubofour said his family believed that rich people became wealthy either through “sikaduro” (juju) or pure luck. With time and experience, he realized this belief was wrong. Wealth, he explained, comes from understanding business, discipline, and consistency, not magic or chance.

Adubofour places strong emphasis on good health. He believes no one can successfully run a company without taking care of their body. Exercise, good food, and a healthy lifestyle are essential tools for leadership and productivity.

On business growth, Adubofour shared how digital marketing has helped him expand. With as little as $5 on Facebook marketing, he can reach up to 10,000 people. Over time, he has invested nearly GHS 10,000 solely into Facebook ads to promote his business and plans to expand into TikTok marketing. According to him, digital tools are powerful if used intentionally—but dangerous if they become distractions.

He warned that mobile phones and social media are destroying productivity, especially among the youth. In his workplace, time is taken seriously. Break times are structured—about 30 minutes, during which workers can use free Wi-Fi. Outside that time, work comes first. Even when friends visit, Adubofour avoids unnecessary phone calls to stay focused on business.

Adubofour operates with clear yearly targets. When a target is achieved, it becomes a milestone, motivating him to push further. He believes success requires planning, measurement, and accountability.

Comparing Ghana to Western countries, Adubofour said people abroad work extremely hard, while in Ghana many people rest too much and rush into status spending. When small money comes, some immediately begin building big houses instead of saving or reinvesting into their businesses. He believes money should first go into banks, assets, and business expansion, not lifestyle display.

Adubofour lives modestly. He does not value flashy, worldly items and proudly uses a Tecno phone worth about GHS 2,000, even though he can afford more. To him, discipline matters more than appearance.

He also criticized the culture of excessive spending. For example, people sew multiple expensive outfits just to attend funerals, sometimes spending GHS 10,000 or more. He believes this wasteful behavior must be reduced if people want financial stability.

At the end of every year, Adubofour may spend as much as GHS 30,000 reinvesting into business, yet it may not reflect as physical cash because the money is tied up in production, machines, and growth. According to him, starting a business without meeting demand is risky, and loans often make things worse, not better.

Adubofour shared that he completed university 15 years ago, and out of all his classmates, only one has passed away—most are alive, renting houses and struggling. He contrasted this with his 80-year-old landlady, who has never traveled abroad, enjoys good health, eats well, and lives peacefully. To him, this proves that a good life is not defined by travel.

He admitted that many people once believed abrokyire (abroad) was heaven and that money was everywhere. However, experience has shown otherwise. In Ghana, he said, people can even take two weeks off during Christmas—something that is almost impossible in many foreign countries.

One of his children, who completed nursing, currently works with him and earns GHS 1,200 because there is no official posting yet. This, he said, is still better than wasting time waiting or chasing false hopes.

Adubofour’s message is clear and firm: Ghanaians must reduce waste, change spending habits, embrace innovation, and focus on production. With leadership, discipline, and the right mindset, success is possible at home.
