Odehyieba and Obeng Darko Share Deep Insights on Marriage, Success, and Modern Mindset
Popular Ghanaian influencers Odehyieba and Obeng Darko, both regular guests on SVTV Africa’s “Daily Hustle Worldwide” with DJ Nyaami, continue to inspire and challenge the mindset of today’s youth. Through their candid discussions, they aim to reshape how young people view work, marriage, and personal growth.
The two influencers have been vocal about the need for young people to develop strong work ethics and practical skills. They believe success is built through consistency, discipline, and purpose—not shortcuts or luck.
Obeng Darko’s Perspective on Marriage
Obeng Darko, who has been married for over 20 years with three children, believes marriage should be about growth, maturity, and shared impact.
“There must be progress in life—emotionally, financially, and spiritually,” he said. “Most people enter marriage only because of physical attraction, like the woman’s looks or body, instead of the person’s mindset.”
He emphasized that foreigners view marriage differently from Ghanaians, often focusing more on partnership and teamwork rather than traditional gender roles. He also encouraged people to marry at age 30 or above when they are more psychologically, physically, and mentally mature.
Obeng Darko explained that he and his wife both attended KNUST, where he studied Medicine and she pursued an MBA.
“I wasn’t from a rich family. I was a street boy, but my wife supported and helped me grow. Every successful marriage involves partnership, not competition,” he noted.
He also cautioned against dismissing marriage as a scam, saying:
“If you find the right partner and stay transparent, marriage becomes a blessing, not a burden.”
Odehyieba’s Take on Modern Relationships
Odehyieba, on the other hand, believes that a successful marriage should feel like friendship.
“Don’t marry a housewife—marry your best friend. Someone you can laugh, play, and grow with,” he advised.
He disagreed with Obeng Darko’s claim that women are naturally sharper than men, explaining that women often appear smarter because they carry fewer responsibilities and therefore think deeper.
Odehyieba also emphasized that unconditional love is fading in today’s generation.
“Many relationships today are built on physical attraction or financial gain. But real love should be based on understanding, effort, and shared vision,” he said.
He believes that the traditional mindset of men being the sole heads of families no longer works in modern times because most women today also work and contribute financially.
“Marriage today should be a partnership. When both partners share responsibilities, it strengthens the relationship,” he said.
On Success and Mindset
Both influencers agreed that mindset is everything. Odehyieba cautioned men against marrying out of pity or based solely on looks.
“Before you marry, study the person’s mindset. You marry the mind, not the body. The body can be bought, but a good mindset is rare,” he stated.
He further criticized the belief that traveling abroad equals success.
“Stop saying ‘God will provide’ without working. That’s a primitive ideology. Money has no location—it follows data, wisdom, and hard work,” he stressed.
Obeng Darko added that some people travel abroad without any clear skills or financial knowledge.
“Many go abroad seeking capital, but end up stuck because of lack of planning and backlogs. The youth must seek financial wisdom first,” he said.
