Ghanaian in Brazil Plans Return Home to Pursue Farming
Theophilus, a Ghanaian based in Brazil, recently made a return appearance on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show with DJ Nyaami.
Sharing his story, Theophilus revealed that during his journey, he met about 15 Africans who were stowing away in Mexico, hoping to cross into the United States. He also mentioned that he will soon return to Ghana with his Brazilian wife and children.
According to him, his father had always encouraged him to go into farming. Though he attempted to start a farming business in Brazil, the documentation process was too complicated. He last visited Ghana 11 years ago and now feels ready to return home for good.
“I have started a fish farming business in Ghana, which my parents currently manage. My dad, who is a chartered accountant, oversees it along with the farm manager,” he said. The farm, located in Ada, has been running for over three years.
Theophilus recalled his childhood days when he used to harvest okro from his father’s farm and sell it at the Ashaiman market. He also noted that there is a Nigerian in Brazil who sells Jollof rice and is doing very well, inspiring him to grow his own business back home.
Since he doesn’t yet own land, Theophilus has built a four-bedroom house on his father’s property and plans to start from there before building his own home. “I’m coming back to Ghana fully for farming with my Brazilan wife and Children,” he said, adding that he is also looking forward to his brother returning to start a poultry farm.
