Mickey, a Ghanaian entrepreneur who lived in the United States, recently appeared on SVTV Africa’s Business Link show with DJ Nyaami, where he shared his inspiring journey of returning home to invest in agriculture and business.

Now based in Asamankese in Ghana’s Eastern Region, Mickey revealed that he moved back to Ghana just last week after several years abroad. According to him, life in Ghana is far more peaceful and flexible than in the U.S.

“In Ghana, I sleep and wake up whenever I want — it’s stress-free. But in the States, I had to set alarms and rush every morning. Life there is full of pressure,” he said.

Mickey is now fully into farming and trading. He cultivates cassava and palm nuts and plans to start pig farming soon. He currently operates on 10 acres of farmland and is also preparing to venture into motorbike and tricycle (aboboya) sales as part of his expanding business.

He emphasized that the financial potential in Ghana is huge compared to working abroad.

“If everyone gives me GHS 10,000 a month in Ghana, I can turn it into GHS 100,000,” he explained. “In America, taxes and bills take most of your earnings. You get only about 30% of your paycheck. But here, your money works for you.”

He also shared how lucrative farming can be.

“A bag of maize that used to cost GHS 400 is now GHS 800 — that’s double the profit in a short time. My brother drives an aboboya, and he makes good money too. A lot of people here are doing well and living comfortably,” he added.

Mickey’s story is a reminder that with vision and hard work, Ghana offers vast opportunities for success — and that sometimes, the best place to build wealth and peace of mind is right back home.
