Kofi, a Ghanaian based in the United States, has shared how he nearly fell victim to a $17,000 scam in his attempt to help people travel abroad. Speaking on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide with DJ Nyaami, he revealed how research and information he gathered from the platform saved him from losing money.
According to Kofi, an agent approached him, claiming he could secure a fiancé visa for $17,000. “I did my research and realized that’s not how the process works. The person he claimed to be helping actually came to the U.S. just two weeks ago, and the only thing they did was go to the embassy once. Later, they got the visa without paying such an amount. That’s why I want to thank SVTV Africa for the information they share. It saved me,” Kofi explained.
Kofi migrated to the U.S. as a child and recalls how quickly he adapted. “My first day at school, I made many friends, and we used the school bus. I grew up here, so America feels fun for me,” he said.
He later studied sterile processing and has been working in the field since 2015. “We wash and sterilize the machines used in hospitals. You get trained, and some people go to school to write the exam. I’ve been doing this for years now,” he explained.
Kofi earns around $60,000 a year from his job as a sterile processor , though he noted that travel nurses make even more—up to $70,000 annually. Currently single, he added that he hopes to find a partner in the future.
Kofi advised Ghanaians to be cautious of agents who demand outrageous amounts for visas. “People should listen to DJ Nyaami and Lawyer Aba. The right information is free, and it can save you from wasting your money,” he concluded
