Albert Osei Tutu Speaks on Marriage, Culture, and Life Abroad

Albert Osei Tutu, a Ghanaian living in the United Kingdom and a regular guest on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show with DJ Nyaami, has shared his thoughts on life abroad, marriage, and cultural values.

According to him, many of the “old borgas” (early migrants) misled Ghanaians about life overseas because, at the time, there was no social media to reveal the realities. Today, however, social media exposes the truth, making it harder for people to hide their struggles abroad. He cautioned that anyone traveling must first be prepared to fight for legal documents, as immigration laws keep changing.

On the topic of marriage, Albert referenced Qliberty’s claim that marriages based solely on certificates are “fake.” He argued that while cultures such as Indians often marry their first love, many people today focus on superficial things, neglecting the essence of marriage. He criticized the abandonment of traditional marriages in favor of certificate marriages, which are easily dissolved, often leading to properties being split 50/50.

He further expressed concern about modern counseling practices, where some pastors give marriage advice that does not align with cultural traditions. In his view, families used to guide their children into marriage with wisdom, but today’s system has shifted away from that foundation. Albert warned that neglecting culture makes people “slaves” to foreign systems.

Touching on life abroad, he revealed that much of the food consumed outside Ghana is unhealthy, and while some foreigners are even considering relocating to Ghana, many Ghanaians fail to appreciate the opportunities their own country offers because they see it as a “third world” nation.
