Aba, a Ghanaian woman based in Germany, is facing eviction along with her husband by the white man who has been hosting them. According to Aba, the man claims the house has problems and insists that since her husband is a pastor, he should have foreseen the issues before moving in.
The host, who lives in Durun, about an hour from Cologne near Esrider, reportedly said he made a mistake when purchasing the house and got into legal trouble. Because of this, he has been pressuring Aba and her husband to leave. Recently, he broke their bedroom and kitchen doors, disconnected the heater, internet, and electricity, and acted aggressively.
Aba explained that her husband first lived in the house in 2019, though the host only bought it in 2020. She herself joined her husband in 2022. Before these issues, the man had been kind to them, even preparing documents stating that he would host them while they lived in Germany. Another white man advised them to get a lawyer, but the situation is becoming more difficult.
Her husband first met their host in 2011 through Bible studies while working as a pastor. When his visa expired and he returned to Ghana, it was this same man who invited him back to Germany through church connections and handled his documentation. Later, her husband brought Aba to join him, and together they now have a one-year-old child.
Despite the eviction pressure, they have decided to rent their own house. However, Aba admits the rental process in Germany is complicated and not easy.
