Kwasi Ramos, a Ghanaian based in the UK, appeared on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show with DJ Nyaami during his visit to London. Ramos revealed that he returned to Ghana in 2019 but has lived abroad for over 20 years.
Sharing his experiences, he compared life in Ghana and the UK, even down to something as simple as food. “In Ghana, when you buy a full chicken, you get everything — head, legs, and intestines. Abroad, it comes without all that,” he noted.
Ramos announced that he is returning to music full-time while also embracing his new life as a married man. “Marriage is good,” he added with a smile.
According to him, living abroad comes with many challenges. “Life in the UK is tough because when you violate the law, you pay the price. The law works here, unlike in Ghana where it often doesn’t. That makes it a big adjustment for us,” he explained.
He also mentioned that many Africans abroad work hard only to pay bills, which makes the dream of wealth abroad misleading. “When someone arrives abroad, they think they’ve made it, but the reality is different. You make money and spend it on bills. Honestly, I’m tired of abroad,” Ramos confessed.
For him, true stability comes from building a house, owning a car, and establishing a business back home. He encouraged Africans to recognize the value of their continent beyond just the finished products imported from elsewhere.
On spirituality, he observed that many Ghanaians forget to pray after moving abroad because of the pressure to work. “If there are no jobs, you can register as a job seeker and still receive support, but people often focus only on chasing money,” he said.
Despite everything, Ramos dreams of one day returning to Ghana permanently.
