Wofa Kwaku – “I Lived in the USA and Now in Germany, But a Side Affair in Ghana Nearly Destroyed My Marriage”
In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide, Wofa Kwaku, a Ghanaian based in Germany, shared how a side relationship in Ghana almost ruined his marriage of over 34 years.
According to him, he had lived in the US for many years before moving to Germany. On one of his visits to Ghana with his wife and children, he met a young woman and decided to support her. He rented a house for her, helped her set up a cooking spot at a car wash, and even sponsored her financially. Over the years, he gave her money to travel, celebrate Christmas in her hometown, and even start her own business.
“I lived with her for about six years. I supported her, but eventually, she became proud among her friends. My children’s number was on my pure water business, and somehow she contacted them and later spoke to my wife. That created serious problems in my marriage,” he revealed.
The situation worsened when rumors spread that the lady had been cursed and had contacted his wife directly. His wife initially wanted to divorce him but later changed her mind after he pleaded.
“If I was in Ghana, I would have done something terrible to her and maybe ended up in prison. I regret how much I invested in her because it nearly destroyed my family,” he admitted.
Speaking on life abroad, Wofa Kwaku compared Germany to the US.
“Germany is tough; it feels like living in Ghana. The language, the lifestyle, and the work make it very hard. If you have 100,000 cedis in Ghana, don’t come abroad. There’s money in Ghana. The USA is far better than Germany—more opportunities and less struggle. Germany is not for young energetic men,” he said.
He concluded by advising Ghanaians not to rush abroad unless they are well-prepared. “If you have 20,000 cedis in Ghana and a car that gives you income, stay and build your life at home. Don’t waste it trying to survive abroad.”
