Ghanaian Businesswoman in Sweden Shares Painful Story of Love, Betrayal, and Struggles Abroad
Asantewaa, a Ghanaian logistics entrepreneur based in Sweden, has opened up about her turbulent relationship with a man she met years ago while he was living in the UK.
According to her, their love story started well, but things soon took a bitter turn. After she got pregnant, the man was deported from the UK. Out of love and commitment, she decided to stand by him and even filed documents to bring him abroad. Eventually, he joined her, but instead of building their life together, he secretly rented a separate house and began living a double life.
Asantewaa revealed that despite initially receiving sympathy from her in-laws, their support faded over time, leaving her to struggle alone. She already had a child before meeting him, and with the new child, life became even harder. To make matters worse, her own mother cut off communication, leaving her without a strong support system.
She sacrificed greatly for him—selling her house in Denmark, adding him to her bank account, and even buying his ticket to Sweden. She also had a thriving logistics company with multiple cars and vans, which he later misused and damaged. Despite her efforts to save him from deportation and give him a fresh start, he got involved in drugs and was eventually arrested.
“We dated for nine years, on and off. I had a clear conscience and gave everything, but he showed his true colors,” she said.
Asantewaa noted that while many people thought he was a footballer because of his lifestyle—driving her Porsche Cayenne and living in luxury—it was all her hard work and sacrifice. Today, the two are no longer together, though he occasionally speaks with their four-year-old child.
Reflecting on her experience, she advised that when parents notice warning signs about a partner, it is wise to listen. She emphasized that she never truly received fatherly love and had to endure betrayal despite all the sacrifices she made.
