Kwame Oboadie: Why I Chose Ghana Over America to Pursue My Dreams

Kwame Oboadie, a Ghanaian expatriate who once lived in the United States, has made a life-changing decision to settle permanently in Ghana. Speaking on his experiences, he explained that despite the opportunities many people believe exist abroad, he found true fulfillment and freedom back home.

According to Kwame, the Western lifestyle, particularly the 9-to-5 work culture, does not necessarily guarantee success. He believes that salaries were originally designed to keep workers dependent, almost like “modern-day slavery,” and therefore do not provide the financial freedom many seek.

“Working for someone from morning till evening might give you stability, but it doesn’t make you successful. Real success comes from building your own,” he said.

Kwame further emphasized that rich people think and act differently from the poor, which is why many successful individuals prefer to run businesses instead of chasing salaries. For him, Ghana offers the perfect environment to start and grow a business while enjoying personal freedom.

“Wherever you are, you can make it. But Ghana gives me a kind of peace and opportunity I never found in America. I’d rather build here than work endlessly there,” he added.

Kwame’s story is a powerful reminder that success is not tied to location but mindset, vision, and determination. While many aspire to migrate abroad, he believes Ghanaians should also look inward, seize opportunities at home, and create wealth on their own terms.
