Prince Young, a Ghanaian who lives in both Ghana and Australia, is a regular guest on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Gh show hosted by DJ Nyaami. In a recent interview, he shared his thoughts on the current Iran-Israel conflict and how it’s affecting Ghanaians abroad—particularly those in Tel Aviv who would rather stay and risk their lives than return peacefully to Ghana.
He mentioned a friend who returned from Germany and is now thriving in Ghana, despite pressure from others to go back. Prince challenged the idea that life abroad is always better, asking people to point out what is truly valuable overseas apart from currency exchange rates.
“If you eat well in Ghana and live a healthy lifestyle, you might not even need to visit the hospital,” he said, recalling someone who was sick abroad but only found healing after returning home.
Prince dismissed the notion that Ghana’s healthcare system is entirely poor, urging people not to underestimate it. He also advised against building homes for traditional rentals if you want to make real returns. Instead, he recommended investing in short-term rentals or Airbnb properties. He cited the example of a man who started with a three-bedroom house and expanded to 13 rooms through short-term rentals, eventually building generational wealth.
“You shouldn’t be ashamed to live in Ghana,” Prince emphasized. He encouraged people to consider profitable ventures such as taxi services and real estate. “If you drop the pride and entitlement, you’ll succeed in Ghana,” he said, urging young people not to abandon their potential back home just to chase uncertain dreams abroad.
Prince also warned against falling into debt traps abroad, especially through credit card use.
“Many are stuck abroad because of loans and unnecessary spending,” he said.
He concluded by encouraging people to return home, try new things, and explore their talents.
“You may discover hidden abilities that would’ve gone to waste while cleaning toilets overseas,” he said. “A child raised in Ghana and then travels abroad can sometimes do better than someone raised abroad.”
