Akoko Amanfi, the CEO of a major poultry farm in Ghana and a regular guest on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwidewith DJ Nyaami, recently shared how his poultry initiatives have raised over GHC2 million in just three months—thanks in part to the exposure he received from the show.
He revealed that after his interview, many people reached out to him, eager to start poultry farms. He emphasized that customer service is key in his business and thanked DJ Nyaami for giving him the platform that attracted such massive interest. “In just three months, the total value of projects people brought to us hit 2 million cedis. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity,” he said.
Akoko stressed that Ghanaian youth must change their mindset if they want to succeed.
“People are stuck in the wrong mindset. Success starts with how you think. Learn more about what you want to do. Some people approached me wanting to start a gari processing business and asked for GHC100,000. I told them they weren’t ready—because you don’t necessarily need money to start a business; you need knowledge.”
He highlighted how unrealistic expectations are holding people back.
“You can’t compare yourself to the child of a king like Otumfuo. You don’t have inherited wealth. You have to build your own legacy. You’re not broke because someone denied you opportunities—you’re broke because your mindset hasn’t changed.”
He shared a contrast between those who hustle and those who chase vanity.
“Someone is signing a GHC2 million cheque for poultry, while another person who sleeps beside their mother is chasing iPhone 16 and using men for money without a plan. If you sleep with men to improve your life and have a clear goal, fine—but if you’re just slaying and wasting time, you’re only harming your future.”
Akoko urged the youth to seek knowledge before seeking capital.
“You can raise GHC100,000 to travel abroad, but you can’t raise that same amount to build a business? That says a lot. The capital you truly need is knowledge. Most people don’t even know what they’re doing, and that’s why you should learn or hire those who do.”
He added that building a serious business comes with responsibilities.
“If someone sleeps on your farm to work, you must provide food. We charge some of our early clients GHC46,000 for full setup support. The reward is there—but you must be willing to work and think right.”
His final message to Ghanaian youth:
“You are what you think. Change your thinking, and you’ll change your life.”
