CEO of Svtv Africa DJ Nyaami joined hundreds of celebrants at the Berma Nkwan Father’s Day Festival held in Tema, and this year’s edition was bigger and better than ever. From delicious traditional meals like omotuo, mpotompoto, banku, goat light soup, chicken soup, Ewokple, and fante fante, the event was a true celebration of Ghanaian culinary culture.
According to the organizers, this year’s crowd exceeded expectations compared to last year, which coincided with the Salah holiday and saw lower turnout. “This time, the attendance was massive and full of positive energy,” said the founder, who hinted that they plan to invite guests from Nigeria for next year’s event to make it even more international.
The festival featured exciting activities, food competitions, and community games that brought families together. One of the highlights was the presence of popular personality Nana Chilling, who praised the crowd for maintaining respect and good vibes throughout. “People were chilling and behaving responsibly,” he said.
A number of attendees—including women and families—shared their excitement in interviews with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle GH show.
“We had to get extra tents because the crowd was so huge,” said one woman. “It was simply splendid.”
Brands are now showing interest in supporting the initiative, and the founder of Berma Nkwan Festival Derrick Gamali Who doubles as the CEO of BMT Pub is encouraging more corporate sponsorships, especially from local companies in Tema. He emphasized that what began as a dream has now become a reality, thanking all the individuals and organizations who made the event a success.
Dignitaries such as Hon. Kempes Ofosu Ware and Hon. Ankama from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly also graced the occasion, showing their support for the initiative. Special appreciation also went to sponsors like Kivo and to CEO of BMT Pub, Derrick Gamali, for their contributions.
The Berma Nkwan Festival continues to grow into a flagship event celebrating fathers and Ghanaian culture, and organizers are already planning something even more exciting for the next edition.
