Ghanaian Entrepreneur Gameli Shares 15-Year Business Journey on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle with DJ Nyaami
In an insightful interview on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Gh and business link show, Ghanaian businessman Gameli, CEO of a Pub Site 19 sat down with DJ Nyaami to share his inspiring entrepreneurial journey.
Gameli revealed that the business began 15 years ago without any capital, but through consistency and hard work, it has grown into a well-known establishment. “We didn’t have money, but we kept pushing, meeting different people, learning, and working hard,” he stated.
He also disclosed that he currently employs more women than men, even though he had no prior experience when starting out. “Experience wasn’t on my side in the beginning, but I’ve learned a lot along the way.”
Commenting on youth employment in Ghana, Gameli noted:
“Jobs exist in Ghana, but low salaries discourage people. Many youth want to work but lack patience and are held back by their backgrounds or fear of judgment.” He added that social pressure often prevents people from embracing certain jobs. “Some feel ashamed to be seen doing so-called ‘low-level’ jobs, even when they pay.”
Gameli also addressed the lack of support from corporate bodies and individuals.
“We don’t receive the kind of support we expect, especially for events like Father’s Day,” he said. Despite this, the pub continues to innovate with programs to engage the community.
This year marks the 7th anniversary of their Father’s Day celebration, which started with just a few attendees and five bowls of berma nkwan. This year’s event, taking place at Tema Community 1, Antedede Street, will feature indoor games, card competitions, spa services, jama contests, arm wrestling, pastries, and a variety of traditional soups.
He concluded with a message to the youth: “The younger generation is creative and tech-savvy. They’re not lazy—they just need the right information and opportunities.”
