Trust is crucial in any business, and one must invest not only money but also time and effort to build meaningful relationships with others. In today’s business link segment, DJ Nyaami interviewed Frank TT, a Ghanaian entrepreneur who started his tyre business 15 years ago.
After completing secondary school, Frank TT joined his senior brother’s tyre business, which was a family-run enterprise. He learned the trade from his brother, and as he gained experience, he took on more responsibility. He would handle operations, sell tyres, and receive payment for his efforts. Over time, he built a reputation of trustworthiness, attracting clients who trusted him to distribute tyres, including imports from Germany.
Frank TT emphasizes that trust and hard work are key to success in business. He explains that divine helpers often connect with others in their journey, and through dedication, one can succeed even when faced with challenges. Over the 15 years, Frank TT faced many obstacles, including instances where customers would buy tyres and return them. Despite these challenges, he continued to build and grow his business.
He once ran five branches, but now operates two branches in Tema. He mentions that the business primarily deals in both used and new tyres, catering to different types of vehicles. Used tyres, though not as durable as new ones, are still valuable for many customers, especially those with commercial vehicles that require tyres with good quality. New tyres, on the other hand, are of the highest quality and last longer.
Frank TT also shared that weather conditions affect tyre use, with some tyres having an expiry date. However, he clarified that the actual performance of tyres doesn’t necessarily expire along with the date listed. He stressed that anyone looking to invest in the tyre business should take time to learn about it before diving in.
Frank TT expressed that, although some people may be skeptical about investing money in certain businesses, those who lack knowledge of the industry are more likely to fail. He also highlighted that he has been able to achieve success both in Ghana and abroad by sticking with the business and constantly adapting to its demands.
He concluded by stating that his business is located at Tema Community 7, and he welcomes anyone interested in buying tyres or learning about the tyre industry to visit. He believes in sharing his knowledge with others to help them succeed in business.
