CEO of Adwenepa Enterprise, Kwame Tachie, Shares His Business Journey

Kwame Tachie, the CEO of Adwenepa Enterprise, is a Ghanaian businessman based in Kumasi Magazine, where he specializes in selling the water tanks, air conditioners, and car parts.

He started his business in 2010, but his journey began in 2008 when he first arrived at Kumasi Magazine to work with someone who dealt in car engines. Despite working for someone else, he always saw himself as a leader and aspired to start his own business. In 2010, with just GHS 700, he finally took the bold step and ventured out on his own. Today, he has four fully stocked shops and is financially stable.

Kwame Tachie believes that doing business in Ghana is rewarding, contrary to the belief that opportunities are limited. He stated that trust and persistence are key in business.

“If someone tells you business in Ghana is not good, they are lying,” he said. Money is in Ghana, but many lack faith in their own country and believe success can only be found abroad.

According to him, many people travel overseas in search of wealth, only to return empty-handed and discouraged. He pointed out that some Ghanaians struggle abroad selling water and other menial goods, while the same business opportunities exist in Ghana but are overlooked.

His business has grown over the years, and he now imports his own goods. However, he has observed that when he travels abroad for business, some customers hesitate to buy because they prefer dealing with him directly. Despite these challenges, he remains focused on expanding his business and helping others.

One of the major challenges he faces is fluctuating foreign exchange rates, which affect the cost of imported goods and, in turn, impact his customers. However, he remains resilient and adaptable.

He also highlighted the importance of mentorship and learning from others, acknowledging Obeng Darko as someone who has taught him a lot about business and success.

Kwame Tachie encourages young entrepreneurs to start small, trust the process, and remain honest. He believes that business is about taking risks, and if you are afraid to lose money, you might never succeed.

His final advice? “Start wherever you are, study the system, and work with honesty. Success will come with time.”
