Afro’s Kitchen: A Taste of Ghana in Germany

This past Christmas, Afro’s Kitchen became a hotspot, drawing large crowds for its authentic Ghanaian cuisine and festive atmosphere.

Afro reflected on the success, saying,

“Our restaurant feels like the ones back home in Ghana. People showed up in numbers, making this Christmas unforgettable. We sold out!”

Despite his success with Afro’s Kitchen, Afro revealed that he holds licenses for other jobs, including operating a forklift, and balances multiple roles alongside his restaurant business.

He emphasized the importance of adaptability and planning ahead:

“Plan for the new year and set goals—you’ll achieve them.”

How Sunday Specials Began

The popular Sunday Specials at Afro’s Kitchen started almost by accident.

Afro explained how he received calls from his sister, Francisca, about friends visiting from Holland.

To make their visit memorable, he decided to host a Sunday event where people could relax and enjoy great food.

“That’s how it all started,” he shared. “Initially, I outsourced cooking, but now I prepare all the meals myself.”

On Challenges Abroad and the Ghanaian Economy

Afro highlighted the struggles many Ghanaians face abroad due to economic pressures from home.

“As soon as you travel abroad, family back home sees you as the head and constantly asks for financial help,” he said. “They think living abroad is easy, but the truth is, it’s tough.”

He expressed hope that Ghana’s economy will improve, reducing the burden on Ghanaians living overseas. “When the economy gets better, they’ll stop calling us for funds. For now, they call because things are bad.”

Hope for Ghana’s Future: Prayers for Mahama

Afro spoke passionately about his hope for Ghana’s future, expressing faith in former President John Mahama’s leadership.

He noted Mahama’s positive influence, especially when he invited respected African leaders to his inauguration, symbolizing a commitment to good governance.

“We need to pray for Mahama to manifest as a transformative leader,” Afro said. “This isn’t about partisan politics—we just want Ghana to get better. A brighter future for Ghana means fewer burdens on those of us living abroad.”

Inspiration for the New Year

Afro’s message to his audience is clear:

“Plan ahead, set goals, and work hard. The new year brings new opportunities, and with determination, you’ll achieve success.”

Afro’s story of resilience and innovation serves as an inspiration for Ghanaians both at home and abroad.

Whether it’s running a sold-out restaurant, balancing multiple jobs, or advocating for better leadership, Afro is a testament to the power of perseverance and planning.
