US-based Ghanaian Kingfred stated that he waited for his return for years but he had been jailed upon his arrival.
Speaking with SVTV Africa’s DJ Nyaami, Kingfred mentioned that his ex-girlfriend held onto hope as she waited for his return to Ghana, however, Kingfred’s life took an unexpected turn.
“I knew I was coming to live with my mother but I had no idea what to expect. So, I didn’t promise her anything and she cried. She didn’t hear from me while I was in jail and didn’t know anyone to ask about me.”
It wasn’t until he completed his sentence and was deported back to Ghana that they were reunited. Upon his return, Kingfred found himself in a difficult position. He cared for his ex-girlfriend but understood he could not offer her the stability and promise she deserved.
Kingfred advised her to move on and seek happiness with someone else. According to Kingfred, he didn’t want to keep her waiting or make promises he couldn’t keep.
