US-based Ghanaian Nana stated that her ex-husband fled from the US to Ghana to avoid paying child support after he divorced her for refusing to share a joint bank account.
In a chat with SVTV Africa’s DJ Nyaami, Nana mentioned that they met on the internet in the early 2000s and met him for the first time when she moved to the US. Nana said she “might not have pursued the relationship if they had met before because he was not my spec.”
“Aside from the domestic violence, the treatment was bad. He wanted control over my finances when I started work. It wasn’t bad for him to keep it, but I couldn’t access the money when I needed it.
So, he quit the marriage when I decided to keep my money. After our divorce, he was supposed to support me financially for the kids but he left the country without our knowledge,” she narrated.
Nana has been divorced for almost a decade. The kids have access to their father but he has not seen them since he left.
