Ireland-based Ghanaian Roberta Appiah disclosed that her father who is a Pastor at a Deeper Life Bible Church cursed and physically abused her often after her parent’s divorce.

In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide with DJ Nyaami, Roberta mentioned that she lived with her father and stepmother for years after her parent’s separation and was abused physically and emotionally.

She was neglected in her father’s home and sent to trade while her step-siblings attended school. Roberta said, “I have this mark from my father’s church member because they realised there was no bond between him and me. So, they could do whatever they wanted. We were financially okay but I had to sell on the streets.”

“Most Pastor’s kids know the truth about their fathers that’s why they behave differently. My father is a preacher but I know it is fake. He cursed me because I wore earrings and trousers. Whenever he spoke to me, it was only curses,” she noted.

Speaking on the effects these experiences have had on her life, Roberta signalled that she has lost trust in people and has been left traumatized.

“I still curl up in my sleep. I quit relationships when I see something that reminds me of my father. The torture was so much that I couldn’t focus on my studies. I felt anxious whenever I returned home from school.”

Roberta eventually met her mother for the first time after completing JHS and moved in with her. She mentioned that her mother encountered financial difficulties, leading her to engage with White men on the Internet.
