Atta Danquah, a Ghanaian who relocated to the UK as a health worker, disclosed that he hasn’t been able to secure a job yet and depends on his family in Ghana for financial support.

According to Atta, his employer had promised him a job before he arrived, but it turned out to be false. Speaking on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Atta mentioned that he has been unemployed for several months and is restricted to working only in the healthcare sector.

“I came to the UK in November last year (2023). I heard about people facing a similar situation, but my employer explained that there were jobs available for us, but it was not so. The visa you come with determines the job you do.

I have a healthcare visa, so I can’t do anything else. My family back home do not understand when I tell them I haven’t got a job yet. At some point, I had to request money from them to pay my rent. I have to pay my rent in a few days, and I’d have to ask them for money again,” Atta said.

This situation raises questions about the need to travel abroad if one has a good job in Ghana. Atta’s experience is a reminder that migrating to another country for work is not always easy, and it’s essential to be cautious when making such decisions.
