Kay Dolphin, a UK-based Ghanaian, revealed that despite his good-paying job, he sold his cars and cleared his account to travel abroad because of how his mother died.

Speaking on SVTV Africa, Kay Dolphin revealed that the ambulance service at a Saltpond hospital refused to transport his mother until they paid GHS200.

“I was at work when it happened. I got calls and several texts telling me my mom was dead. She collapsed and hit her head, but the ambulance refused to transport her to a bigger hospital because they did not pay GHS200 for fuel. She was on the stretcher for hours.”

According to Kay, the death of his mother pushed him out of the country because “she was among the reasons I work. So how can I work and save all that money when I could have paid 200 times that amount? But she left because of GHS200. So I quit the job and travelled.”

Kay Dolphin worked in an oil company in Ghana. He earned over GHS9,000 a month. Kay lived a relatively comfortable life, but he sold his cars and cleared his bank accounts to study in the UK.

However, he told DJ Nyaami that he regretted leaving Ghana in a rush because he felt stranded and frustrated in the first few months abroad.
