I refused to learn a skill in Ghana, but I regretted it after I travelled – Man reveals

Netherlands-based Ghanaian Nana Antwi disclosed that he regretted not learning a skill in Ghana before travelling abroad. 

Speaking on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Nana Antwi indicated that he would not have suffered in the first few years of living abroad if he had learned a trade in Ghana. Nana was advised to pursue skilled work, but he preferred an office job.

“My barber friend wanted to teach me, but I refused because I was a graduate and wanted an office job. I regretted it after I travelled abroad. The most respected and profitable jobs abroad are often looked down upon by Ghanaians.

You don’t even need to speak the language. All you need is the skill, and you will make so much money. Whenever I visit Ghana, I plan on learning how to cut hair. It will help me cut costs. You’ll go far with your skills if you live abroad,” he noted. 

Moreover, Nana Antwi recounted some experiences that pushed him to consider returning to Ghana. He mentioned that some of his friends returned to Ghana. 

“Starting life in the Netherlands was not easy for me. I came with my friend, but we were not employed yet. He called to tell me he was going back to Ghana, and he did. He started a business in his village, and I drive his car whenever I visit Ghana,” Nana Antwi added.
