Turkey-based Ghanaian Michael Yeboah revealed to SVTV AFRICA that seven undocumented Ghanaians have been arrested while others are stuck at home to avoid deportation.

According to Michael, Turkey immigration is on a mission to hunt down and deport undocumented immigrants. He added that immigration could also revoke an immigrant’s permit.

“It’s not only the Black immigrants but everyone. If you are staying here illegally, they’ll arrest and detain you. Many Ghanaians have been arrested. Seven were arrested only yesterday.

Many don’t apply for a permit because you could work in Turkey without a passport. The officers visit homes, offices and even public transport without their uniforms. Some Ghanaians have been stuck at home for over two weeks now,” he disclosed.

Moreover, Michael indicated that many detainees have bought flight tickets and are ready to leave, but Turkey immigration has refused.

“They work in batches, and the first batch has not been deported yet. So even if you’re ready to go, you’d have to wait in jail until it’s your turn. The officers also confiscate mobile phones after arrest,” he told DJ Nyaami on Daily Hustle Worldwide.
