UK-based Ghanaian Florence Kwakye has disclosed that her ex-fiancé told her that he was uncomfortable with her level of education and failed to support her in upgrading herself.
In a chat with DJ Nyaami on SVTV AFRICA, Florence mentioned that her ex brought her education up three times. Her ex told her she would feel uncomfortable if she failed to entertain his educated friends after marriage.
“He knew about my educational background even before he proposed marriage to me. He said he was uncomfortable because I won’t be able to speak English with his friends. He never mentioned helping me either,” she noted.
According to Florence, she met another man who eventually proposed to her. To avoid a divorce or heartbreak from her relationship, Florence gave his fiancé’s ring back to him and explained her reason for the breakup.
“I broke up with him and accepted the other (now husband). He lived in Italy. So I accepted his proposal and got married eventually. I came from a poor background, and my ‘educated’ ex knew all about my situation. So I couldn’t understand what he said and returned his ring,” she added.
