Switzerland-based Ghanaian James Ekyi has revealed that he had no option but to give his wife a divorce because she had already decided on it.

In a chat on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Mr Ekyi indicated that his ex-wife wanted a divorce after she joined him in Switzerland. According to Mr Ekyi, his ex-wife thought he would not agree to a divorce, but he allowed it without any hustle.

“She thought I may not give her that chance. She tried to do something bad that would push me into divorcing her. So when the time came, I gave her a chance and ended our marriage. We had three kids together,” he said.

James Ekyi mentioned that he agreed to the divorce to prevent her from prosecuting him. As a result, James left Switzerland for Ghana and stayed for about ten years.

“I realised that what she was doing may affect our kids because the law favours women more. My children complain about leaving, and they are right, but they understand me now,” James added.

He advised Ghanaian married couples abroad to accept the divorce if their partner brings it up to avoid divorce drama.
