Italy-based Ghanaian Benedicta Osei Kusi revealed in an interview that when she joined her husband in Italy, some Ghanaians there gave her an estimated date for her marriage to collapse.
Divorce among Ghanaians living abroad has been a recurring topic on the Daily Hustle Worldwide. Many people often share how the system abroad makes it difficult to maintain a marriage.
However, in Bernice’s case, people told her her marriage would collapse soon and added that they were only in the honeymoon phase.
“They said I had just arrived and that it would collapse soon. They put a timeline on it and set a date for our divorce. It is just jealousy. If you give them attention or mingle with them, it just might come true. Some said I wasn’t friendly because I didn’t stay to chat after church service,” she said on SVTV AFRICA.
Bernice met her husband while working at a radio station in Ghana. They talked for a year before marriage and eventually joined him in Italy. They have twin boys now.
