US-based Ghanaian Lady Pearl has disclosed that her ex-husband was always insecure about their relationship and was in an on-and-off marriage for years.
Speaking on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Lady Pearl indicated that his insecurities resulted in many breakups and physical abuse. According to Pearl, she had to call it quits eventually following the constant abuse, physically and emotionally.
“Ego was a huge factor. He was trying to please society. If you accept to be completely humble, he will treat you like a doormat. He always came back to apologise whenever I left about six times. Insecurity played a huge role.
Publicly, he pretended not to want me, but he was begging to be with me. He probably thought he was undeserving of me and was insecure about that. He confessed it to me. It’s not always cheating that breaks up a marriage,” she explained.
Lady Pearl shared some reasons for the problems they faced in their relationship. She said, “we didn’t know each other that well. It was just communication on phone, and it’s different from living with the person. The problems began on our first week abroad.”
Moreover, the divorcee added that some Ghanaian men living in the US can be controlling and blinded by ego.
