US-based Ghanaian Dorcas Boampong has disclosed that her parents’ marriage made her unconcerned about marriage until a location change.

Speaking on Daily Hustle Worldwide with DJ Nyaami, Dorcas indicated that her parents’ marriage gave her a wrong idea of marriage until she witnessed her aunties marriage while living with her family.

According to Dorcas, her idea of marriage was twisted because “their marriage got very ugly. So I told her to leave us behind. It was better to have them separated than to see her dead.

But when I lived with my aunt, I realised it was very different from my parents. I stayed with her for ten years and never saw them quarrel. I decided to learn from my aunt because I might have stayed single if I only had my parents as references.”

Moreover, speaking on life and marriage abroad, Mrs Boampong stated that she learned a lot from her aunt which helped her marriage. According to Dorcas, she chose a caring man and not a God-fearing one.

“I wanted a man who knew how to treat people because we are humans, and we’ve not seen God before. You know how it feels when one is ill, so you’ll be empathetic towards me. But a God-fearing man may leave me behind and go to church while I’m sick or pregnant because he wants a good relationship with God.”

Dorcas advised the youth to be wary and continue their education if they travel abroad.
