Norwegian lady who studied in Ghana, Birte Hege, AKA Abena, disclosed in an interview that her parents cried when she informed them of marrying a Ghanaian.

Speaking on SVTV Africa, Miss Hege mentioned that her parents did not support her decision to move to Ghana because they feared for Abena’s life. However, she was overage and decided to satisfy her curiosity by moving to Ghana.

While at the University of Ghana, Abena met her husband (now ex), and they got married in their final year at Koforidua. In response to whether her parents were present for the ceremony, Abena told DJ Nyaami that her parents cried when they heard the news.

“My parents didn’t come for the wedding. They cried a lot because they thought I would never come to Norway,” she said amidst laughter.

“We played boyfriend and girlfriend in a play and dated after. Eventually, we got married in 2001; our final year in uni,” she added.

According to Abena, she travelled to Norway with her husband after graduating because her student visa had expired. After three girls, they got a divorce, but they still maintain a great relationship with their kids.

“Life abroad is difficult, and life happens. He gave me three beautiful girls, and I thank God for that. You can’t force it if it’s not working, but we have a great relationship, and he meets the kids often,” Abena said on Daily Hustle Worldwide.

As a Performing Arts student, Birte appeared in an Astymin commercial in the early 2000s.
