Karen Kwakye has stated in a chat on SVTV Africa that it is shameful when women demand money from their boyfriends for their hairdo or house rent.
According to her, women must accord themselves some respect and avoid making silly demands because they are in a relationship. She added that men who spend unnecessarily on their girls act stupidly.
“It is wrong unless the man wants to. Some even complain about their men not buying them pants. Let’s be responsible for the men to respect us. If you are responsible, the man won’t treat you like trash,” she told host DJ Nyaami.
Miss Kwakye further pointed out, “if you pay for my rent now, what is the guarantee that we will still be together two years later. Will you now go to find another man to pay for the rent again? Let’s be responsible for the men to respect us.”
Moreover, Karen advised men to avoid an excessive bride price list. Otherwise, they can refuse to care for the woman after the marriage. According to her, young couples must plan on their future and avoid extravagant wedding
“If anyone asks you to renovate his house before marriage, don’t take care of the lady after the marriage. You’ve invested the money in her father’s house,” she said while laughing.
“I saw a front and back bride price list on an A4 sheet. The man told me that the lady’s father asked him to do renovations before the marriage. Don’t you think about your daughter’s life after the ceremony?”
