US-based Ghanaian Kojo Appiah has disclosed that there are millions of jobs in the US, but there are few people who are ready to take up the vacant positions.

In a chat on SVTV Africa, Kojo indicated that most jobs do not require certification or skill but performance. According to him, the jobs often give new employees a 2-week training before work begins.

“Bring all Ghanaians to work here, and some companies will still be vacant. They beg people to work.”

Speaking on the type of jobs available, Kojo Appiah mentioned that “it doesn’t matter your qualification, some put the employees on a two-week training program first. They reward you based on your performance on the job and not your skill.”

“If you want a professional like a lawyer, you study for it. What is your use if you have all the certificates, but can’t perform?” he questioned.

Mr Appiah disclosed that people with technical skills (plumbing, carpentry, electrician, etc.) make the most money abroad.

“A mechanical engineer charges you based on the number of hours spent on the car. You will first pay for the admission fee, another fee to identify the fault before he works on it. They charge $132 per hour,” he added.
