Even though some industries has suffered and collapsed since the outbreak of this deadly coronavirus, the football fraternity is one of the industries that have suffered probably the most during this coronavirus pandemic.
In our part of the world where the local league isn’t function well already due to lack of sponsorship among others has also come to a halt.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) though working hard to bring more sponsors on board, the league still doesn’t look lucrative or enticing.
Chief Executive Officer of Rences Football Academy, Francis Afotey Mensah in an interview with host DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa has advised the Kurt Okraku led administration to diversify their revenue portfolios to let them attract more sponsorship deals.
Mr. Mensah also added that, one major reason why Ghanaians are not patronizing the local league is because of bad packaging and poor marketing strategies by the FA.
“The infrastructure we have now when you go to the stadia is not able to stand the test of time. When you go to the various parks, the pictures you get, they are not appealing to the average person to say okay let me watch this game and also the quality of football. The coaches, I think they can have a proper or better training in abroad or something. We really need advanced people [to take charge of the league] even though they’re doing well, they really need to add up. So when you package it well, then you attract fans to come and companies will be willing to come and invest in it.” Mr. Mensah said.
We are praying and hoping that, the GFA will step up to the plate in terms of making sure that brands get the mileage they deserve when they’re on board for sponsorship as well as embarking on radical reforms that would enhance the product’s attractiveness.
