A woman who was scarred for life when her ex tried to murder her with a bread-knife has shown off her “war wounds” as a domestic violence survivor.
Jade Jaice Herbert, 26, spoke out about her ordeal after her would-be killer Fidel Robinson, 23, was jailed for 15 years for the frenzied attack.
The trainee youth worker says she only survived by finding the strength to disarm the vile bully she says was “born evil”.
Robinson snapped just a week after Jade’s 25th birthday and threw a TV on top of her before going into the kitchen for a bread knife which he then used to disfigure her.
Despite her horrific injuries, she managed to grab the weapon and hid behind the bath.
The attacker then fled as Jade, dripping with blood from her wounds, banged on a neighbour’s door for help.
More than a year on from the horrific attack, Jade has now posted images of her mutilating injuries in hospital with the message: “Thank you so much everybody.
“It has took me a lot of courage to write this post as I am a very proud person anyway but I can’t hide forever.
“I am Jade and this is my story. So here goes. I’m sh–ting bricks writing this. I hope you understand.
“As some of you may know, a week after my 25th birthday, on the 14th of December 2019, I nearly lost my life.
I was beaten in ways that are indescribable. He bit me, cut my hair, smashed things over my head.
“You name it, he done it. But not only that – my so called ex-boyfriend took a knife to me and cut my face and body.
“ I was in hospital for nearly two months recovering. I still haven’t physically – never mind mentally healed. He took something from me I will never get back.
“If I didn’t build up the strength to take the knife I wouldn’t be here to tell the story. Things would have been a lot different.
“The support and guidance I have had during this has been amazing. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart but most of all my mother Elaine.
“If it wasn’t for you, I don’t know what I would of done. You are my angel on the ground. You catches my tears and took my pain.
“You reassured me that no matter what – we can do this – and we will get through. And we did mum. We did it. We got justice.
“No time will ever be enough for the pain he caused me, my family and my friends. But at least you have that closure now and I can finally start to heal in my own time.”
She said her relationship with Robinson lasted only four months and was a “roller-coaster” of emotional, physical and mental abuse.
She said: “He doesn’t have mental health issues. He was just born evil – and I think that’s even scarier. How could one human do that to another. There are no words.”
She branded Robinson “a scumbag” who deserved every year of his sentence.
“But no time will ever be enough,” she added.
“I had to do what I had to do because someone else might not have had the strength. I am not a victim. I am a survivor. I am a warrior and these are my war wounds”.
Jade works for the The Rathbone Story, a national youth charity which aims to transform young lives through apprentice and training schemes.
At Manchester Crown Court, Robinson, of no fixed address, was jailed for 15 years after admitting attempted murder and three assault offences.
Prosecutors said Robinson viciously assaulted Jade and a female friend in October 2019, leaving them both with severe bruising and facial injuries.
On Saturday, December 14, 2019, Robinson attacked Jade again. She suffered multiple stab wounds and was hospitalised for a week.
She underwent extensive surgery for her facial injuries which left her with lasting scars.
Robinson was arrested by police five days later for unconnected offences but lied about who he was.
Forensic experts linked him to the attack after finding one of his bloodstained finger prints at the scene. They also tracked down the taxi firm he used to escape.
