Belgium-based Ghanaian Afro dancehall artiste Rule Boy has stated that the CEO of Ghana Music Awards France, Mavis Frimpong is ungrateful and must apologize for misleading the public that artists did not perform for free.

Mrs Frimpong, in an interview with DJ Nyaami, revealed that no artiste performed for free at the maiden edition of the Ghana Music Awards France in Toulouse and added that “the artiste (who performs for free) may come from heaven.”

In response to the CEO’s claim, an Afro dancehall artiste who performed at the event disputed her claims. Rule Boy mentioned that aside from performing without charge, they failed to accommodate or feed them as promised.

“I performed for free at the launch and the main event. I bought my tickets from Belgium to France for the event. They had promised to give us food, but they told us to pay for it. In terms of accommodation, we needed two days hotel, but we had to beg them to pay for one day.

They didn’t even prepare a table for nominated artistes like myself. I had to take someone’s chair. She (Mavis Frimpong) was ungrateful in what she said because I spent about 1000 euros at the event alone,” he said on SVTV Africa.

Rule Boy stated that Mavis Frimpong must apologize for what she said. According to him, the Ghana Music Awards, France was poorly organized, and he would not participate in it next year.

“I haven’t prepared to join the awards scheme next year. It is not because I did not win, but I won’t join because of the organisation. They need to render an apology for everything they said wrong. They need to recognize Ghanaian artistes in the diaspora. Photos of some of the nominated acts did not even pop up on the screen during the awards,” Rule Boy added.
