Italy-based Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Omar has stated that it has always been a dream to play for the Black Stars of Ghana, but he never got the support in Ghana.

In a chat on ‘Daily Hustle Worldwide,’ He mentioned that the Ghana Football Association only call them up after their success in Europe. He added that when a player rejects the Black Star’s call-up, they call him unpatriotic.

“You have no idea how much I love my country. It is my dream to play for the Black Stars, even if it’s just for a month. If I don’t get to, my children will make the national team one day.”

“When we start as young players, no one in Ghana gives you the chance or support. But when you reject their call, people will say you don’t love your country,” he told DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa.

Mohammed referred to Mohammed Salisu’s current situation with the GFA to make his case.

“Alhaji Grusah speaks for the Zongo football community. When Salisu needed them, they didn’t help him, and he doesn’t want to play for the Black Stars anymore,”

Speaking about his playing for the Serie A, the Polisportiva Bergamo Alta captain revealed that he hopes to play for the league soon. However, it is more difficult for black footballers, irrespective of their talent.
