The Chairman for the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Rex Omar has warned bloggers to desist from twisting what he says during interviews with their sensational headlines which leads to him being incessantly verbally abused.

He said these days due to social media and the proliferation of several blogging platforms, most people hardly read to know the full details of the story but quickly pass denigrating comments based on the skewed headlines.null

Speaking to Amansan Krakye in an exclusive interview on GBC Radio Central in Cape Coast monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Rex Omar bemoaned the name tarnishing that he has been subjected to by some bloggers.

He remarked “I think that maybe in Ghana I can say that I’m one of the few musicians who is very vocal. Ghanaians don’t like people who are confident and stand for what they think is right people don’t like you. We’re people who don’t stand up for what we believe in.

“This interview I could have decided not to do it. But I believe God made me a Ghanaian for a purpose to throw light, to educate, to motivate, to encourage, to lead a certain section of our country to contribute my quota. So if you call me on your program and I’m educating the public, even you the radio station I’m giving you content for free. nullnull

“So if I give you the contents and you choose to use a screaming headline which does not relate to what I said then you are turning people against me. When you called me I didn’t want to talk because what do I gain by giving free contents and you end up spoiling my image. Most people don’t read, they only read the headline and start insulting you.

“Let me give you an example, I was there when a radio station called me that they were discussing songwriting and asked me that what do I think about Kofi Kinaata. Simple question like that and I said I have followed Kofi I have listened to his songs and that he is a good lyricist. Then the next thing Rex Omar says Kofi Kinaata is not a good songwriter.

“Then people started insulting me meanwhile this guy is someone I once booked him for a show. What are you trying to do. But we will continue to play our role because some of these things cannot bring me down”.
